Pirelli innovations

Pirelli noise-canceling system (PNCS)

The ultimate solution to reduce tire noise on the road. The vibrations generated by the tire structure and manifested in the interior of the vehicle: the Pirelli Noise Canceling System eliminates this phenomenon, providing a significant increase in comfort.

RunFlat and Seal Inside technologies

Self-supporting Pirelli RunFlat technology: allowed driving even on a punctured tire while maintaining control of your vehicle. A perfect example of the tires with this technology is P Zero PZ4 RunFlat. Usually, RunFlat technology requires the presence of TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), because you have to be aware of the damages to reach the tire service, even if your RunFlat tires provide an extra 80 miles after the puncture. But, in 2020 Pirelli developed technology, which can be used in any vehicle and does not require special rims or TPMS.

Self-sealing Pirelli tires keep the vehicle stable and allow you to continue driving safely without loss of pressure even after the tire is punctured by an external object, covering almost 85% of all possible causes of loss of pressure.

Cyber Car

It is a system of built-in sensors, associated electronics, and software that allows you to track tire condition data in detail and in real-time.

System sensors are busy collecting and transmitting information that is most important from the point of view of safety and other operational characteristics. Today, pressure sensors have become familiar to everyone, allowing you to monitor the degree of filling the tire with air. The Italian manufacturer's new system also collects data on the temperature inside the tire and on the residual height of the tread pattern. Cyber Car can be integrated with stability control systems and ABS.

A brief history of Pirelli company

In 1872, the engineer Giovanni Batista Pirelli, a 23-year-old boy with his companions, bought a small factory for the production of rubber products in Milan. At those times, the first cars appeared on the streets of Milan. In those days, they produced very unreliable tires. A small sharp stone or glass shard was enough for the air-inflated rubber chamber to fly to shreds. Every day, leaky cameras from cars and bicycles were brought to the Pirelli factory with requests to fix it. In the end, one of the employees of the plant gave an idea to the owner to start improving automobile and bicycle tires.

In 1890, a workshop for the production of tires was opened at the Milan plant. Two years later, Pirelli entered the top five tire manufacturers in the world.

One of the first long-distance rallies, which took place in 1907 on the Paris-Beijing route, was won by Italian racers Scipion Borges, Luigi Barzini, and Ettor Ghizardi. Their cars were fitted with Pirelli tires. That was the moment when the star of Pirelli tires popped up into the sky.
